Bio: 

Dr. Kenneth C. Janda was appointed Dean of UC Irvine’s School of Physical Sciences in 2011, after serving a year as Interim Dean and two years as Associate Dean. Janda also served as Vice Chair and Chair of the UCI Academic Senate 2004-2006. He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1977 followed by a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Chicago, and professorial positions at CalTech and University of Pittsburgh. He also held visiting professor positions at the Universite de Paris-Sud and the Universite Paul Sabatier in France. In 1992 he joined the faculty at UC Irvine’s Department of Chemistry. Among Dean Janda’s many accolades, he is fellow of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Fulbright Program, and the American Physical Society. In addition to his academic merits, Dr. Janda is an advocate for diversity and the advancement of science education in K-12 schools.
